School Based Apprenticeships Traineeships (SBAT)
In the past few years we have had an increasing number of students choosing this exciting option. Part Time New Apprenticeships are generally completed over the two years of the VCE/VCAL but under certain circumstances can be started in Year 10. They can be undertaken in areas such as Agriculture, Automotive, Business, Hospitality, Retail and Community and Health Services.
Benefits to students:
- Complete the VCE
- Gain a Certificate 2 Qualification
- Paid for work (approx $8 an hour)
- Possible entry into a full time work
In most cases students will be in the work place one day a week. The day will depend on their timetable and the requirements of their employer. The extra hours required can be made up on weekends and during holidays. Another benefit to students in some cases is that they are able to gain some VCE credits for the TAFE work completed.
Students enrolling in VCAL should have a school based apprenticeship placement.
