Each year we implement a range of Careers Education activities with students across all year levels.
Year 7 & 8 students will engage in developing knowledge about themselves and the things that interest them during Careers lessons. They will record some of this in their Career Action Plan as they start their Career Portfolio. They will also make connections between the learning they do in classes with a range of different jobs, including potential jobs of the future.
Year 9 students will take part in the My Career Insights program which includes the Morrisby online profile assessment and Year 10 students will prepare for their Work Experience placements, including learning about workplace safety. There will be pathways information sessions to help students plan their senior school program including VET course options. Students in these year levels will be encouraged and supported to develop their Career Action Plans and Resumes as they build their Career Portfolio.
Year 11 & 12 students will have individual Career Pathways interviews and be supported in exploring their future work and study options, including apprenticeships/traineeships, certificate and diploma courses at TAFE and other RTOs, and higher education courses at university. Students will be supported to continue with their Career Action Plans each year and to update their Career Portfolio in preparation for work and study post-school. Structured Workplace Learning can be integral part of a student’s program, but is also relevant to students with VET courses. School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships can form part of a student’s senior school program. Work Experience is still available for all senior students.
